What you create from my tutorials belong to you, to do with as you wish....I hold no claim to them...but I would love to see what you create from them. ;o)

I have had several requests to do a tutorial for my textured flowers, which are very much like a 'Stained Glass effect', but  instead of using ready made glass fill, we get to make our own fill of glass etc.  I played around for hours with different techniques and textures, but I am only going to point you in the right direction by showing you three ways.  I have used PSP 7 but this tutorial can be done in the previous versions.

To achieve these effects you are going to need some of these things, so if you haven't already got them download them from below....which also tells you where to put them...and nicely at that. *s*

What you will need.

PSP 7 if you haven't already got it, you can download a 30 day trial here.

Eye Candy 4:   Plugins Folder

Blade Pro Glass Leaf : put this in the Blade Pro Presets folder

Leaf Pattern : this goes in the Patterns folder

Leaf Gradient :  Gradient folder

Flower tube :  Tubes folder

Texturizer :  You can use the PSP Texturizer or you may be lucky and own the Adobe one. *s*

Leaves Bevel : Presets folder

Screen shots were reduced for quicker downloading, so yours will be bigger.
Don't forget to save often as you go and if you have PSP 7 to make sure that it's set on auto save to a folder of your choice.  I am assuming that you have a working knowledge of PSP.

This is a tube that I made from a colouring in book, which you can use if you wish. Download from link above.

First open a transparent image sized about 300 x 500, makes working easier if it's not too small and can be reduced when you have finished.  Also you need to have the image that you wish to use, copied and pasted into your new image.  Or you can use the tube I'm using by selecting the tube tool and chose this flower from your tube folder...assuming of course that you have downloaded it and placed it in this folder. If you use one of your own images then it must have a white fill and definite unbroken black edging to achieve the effects we need.  Now to do all three samples we are going to need two more of this image, so press Shift + D twice...pushing these to one side so we can work on the first image

Grab your magic wand and whilst holding Shift key down, select all the white areas inside of only the leaves...this applies to all three images.

Blade Pro Glass leaves: Okay, go to Effects....Plugins...Flaming Pear...Blade Pro...Glass leaves...click ok.....Done...as simple as that!  ;o)  See picture below.  Put this to one side so that we can work on the second picture.  Don't forget to save!

Try experimenting with a few more fills from Blade Pro, there are a lot of nice ones to choose from. Now for your second image where we will use the Leaf Fill using the settings below

With your magic wand select the whites inside your leaves as described in first part of tutorial, then flood fill with the Leaf pattern using the flood tool   Keeping the selection, grab your Paintbrush line width 1 and a dark fill such as Black or Dark Green, draw some veins on the leaves as in sample picture above.  Then go to Effects...3D...Inner Bevel...Leaves Bevel with settings like so....Done!
Put to one side so that we can work on the third image.

Don't forget to Save!

On this third image we will use a Gradient fill, it can be green, bronze or any colour you choose, remember that you are the creator. I have used a simple green one which you can download, if you wish to use this. Below are the settings etc of this gradient.

Using the same method as before select the white of your leaves and Fill  with the gradient, keeping selection draw in the veins.  Now you can go to Effects...Plug-Ins...Texturizer and using the settings below, add a sandstone texture to the leaves.  Next draw in the veins then go to Effects...3D...Outer Bevel this time using the settings below.

So that is 3 methods of literally hundreds of ways of doing the leaves and once you get going on it, you won't want to stop. ;o)  But we are not finished yet.....we will be doing the flower head next and it doesn't matter in which order that you do them, as long as we finish up with  3 completed images.

We do the flower fills in the same way.  Select the whites of the petals, making sure that you include those little parts between stamen etc, (you may have to go to Select...Modify....and expand by 1 or 2 pixels to make sure that you get all the white...you will notice in my screen capture that there are still little bits visible). Now fill with your choice of gradient, plaid, or whatever using your fill tool.  Go to Effects...Plugins....Texturizer and use the same settings as before.  Then Effects...Plugins...Eye Candy....Swirl.  Then Eye Candy again but this time choose....Glass.......Done!

Put to one side again so that we can work on the next flower.

I don't want to keep on repeating myself and by now you will know just how to do all these steps, right? ;o)  Sooooooo!

For the second flower try using a gradient....sandstone texture and then inner bevel or outer bevel....which ever achieves the effect you want.

  Don't forget to Save!

For the third flower I chose just a solid light blue colour, applied the Eye Candy Swirl and then Eye Candy Glass.

Don't forget to Save!

Well we are finally on to the last part, but at least we are getting 3 images out of all this. ;o)

We need to select the black lines in the image, to do this just click once in one spot and it should select all the outlines.  (See image below) Now choose your scissors and cut, keep selected.  Grab your fill tool with white as your fill colour and flood the cut out area. Next go to Effects....Plug ins...Blade Pro and select the preset that you wish to use for this area.  On my first image I selected, Bright Smooth Gold, the second one was Black Glass and the third was JL_silver glitter  from Purrcat Designs.

Don't forget to Save!

That's it folks, all that is left to do now is tube it and do what you wish with it.  I'd love to see what you come up with because don't forget, I am learning too!  *s*

Have fun and let's hope that I haven't led you astray on any of this.

I hope that you have enjoyed this tute and would love to see your finished creation.....if you ever get there that is.  ;o)

Have Fun! and  Email if you have any problems!
